The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) is a standalone legal not-for-profit research center based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, managed by a board of directors and chaired by the Minister of Environment, Water & Agriculture.
In 2011, Estidamah was set up upon a joint agreement between the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) and King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh Techno Valley to serve as the main office of the Center, with the support of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).
Estidamah was launched in early 2017 to perform applied research, to adopt and test innovative technologies that will contribute to sustainable agriculture; with a primary focus on specific key strategies, including – but not limited to – increasing crop production per unit area, boosting water-use efficiency, in addition to application and localization of modern protected cultivation technologies.
Estidamah aims to put in place knowledge management and effective empowerment; to adapt and develop sustainable agricultural systems, to supervise research programs and projects, to conduct research and applied experiments in the areas of protected cultivation, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), biological pest control, fertilization, water use efficiency and facilitating innovation; to support and develop sustainable agriculture and expand its applications.
King Saudi University, Riyadh Techno Valley, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, serves as the main office of Estidamah.
